That said, I definitely do like those resolutions, too.

And yeah, sure they do. You should check out the library sometime.

They're crossed out because I don't want to be making them.

Nah. Not really my thing, libraries. They get very upset at you when you tear the pages out of their books to roll joints.

Why not? Those five things happen to all be things we've been working on already, you know.

I'll take a look around the library for you, then. But if I find one there that you end up enjoying, can we go together to pick out the next one?

And I'm not letting you give up on your resolutions because I care. It's the same. Only my actions aren't lethal.

Which is kind of amazing! You know that right? It's something to be proud of. I'm proud of you, at least.

It's not bragging rights - I was complaining about the state of things around here.

Apparently it's wet paint you're meant to sniff. Licking the dry wall paint did nothing.

We really need to find a way to redirect this "chasing the greatest high" thing.

I mean, I get it. But. Jeeze.

I understand drugs on a chemical level. I know how they work, and the effects they achieve. I'm saying there are perfectly legal ways to get that same kind of feeling.

Well, almost the same.

Better, in a lot of ways, but that's just my opinion on it.

Oh yeah? How do you propose doing that?

I haven't figured it out exactly yet, but-

It's kind of hard to explain.

Explain it to me. I'm rather hard at listening so maybe it'll all balance out.

Drugs aren't the only things that can alter your mind, you know? There's adrenaline rushes, and the kind of rush you feel when you're doing something you love, or when you hear a song you love.

The part that's hard to explain is trying to figure out what makes those things fire off in your mind. Trying to piece together something that'll work right for you, and help you.

I can't make any promises, it's just a generic theory that I'm really hoping I can make work for you.

What if there's no more fire in my mind on account of the hole I drilled through my brain?

No way, not possible.

I lived in NYC, remember? I've seen burnouts and people who lost their fire, but that's not you.

For starters, your list of resolutions wouldn't look like that if that was you.
